Rita Pierson, die meer dan 40 jaar lerares was, hoorde een collega zeggen: 'Ze betalen me niet om vriendjes te worden met kinderen.' Haar antwoord: 'Kinderen leren niet van mensen die ze niet mogen.' Dit is een oproep aan onderwijsmensen om in hun leerlingen te geloven, om als leraar contact met ze te maken en je te verbinden op een echte, menselijk en persoonlijk niveau. Een TED-talk die door Arjan Moree werd opgevist en als bijdrage is aangeleverd.Rita F. Pierson has spent her entire life in or around the classroom, having followed both her parents and grandparents into a career as an educator.
